Hi, we’re Abby and Jake - the duo behind Velvet Fern! Our story starts with a love for creativity and a passion for doing things a little differently. For the last 4 years, Abby has done weddings through her brand "Abbriella Photo". Abby is also a tattoo artist with her own studio. Before Abby picked up her tattoo machine, she found photography as a creative outlet and quickly realized how much she loved it. Over the past 4 years, wedding photography has been her way of telling love stories in an authentic, meaningful way.
Jacob joined her about a year ago, but has been by her side for the entire photography journey. He always adds his personality to sessions to make everyone giggle throughout the entire session.
When we got engaged in 2023, we immediately knew we’d want a micro-wedding or elopement - something adventurous, personal, and as untraditional as we are. That vision inspired us to create Velvet Fern, a brand designed for couples who don’t fit the traditional mould.
We specialize in cinematic, playful, and romantic storytelling for wild-hearted couples who value creativity over convention. Whether it’s an elopement in the mountains or a quiet micro-wedding surrounded by your closest people, we focus on the moments that truly matter - the belly laughs, the stolen glances, the in-between magic that makes your love story yours.
When we’re not behind the camera, you’ll find Abby tattooing, Jake drumming, camping, or dreaming up our own unconventional wedding. If you’re ready for a fun, authentic experience that reflects your unique story, we’d love to be part of your adventure.
